49 CFR Part 21 – Nondiscrimination in Federally Assisted Programs of the Department of Transportation
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. Specifically, Title VI provides that “no person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, age, sex, creed be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” 42 U.S.C. Section 2000d.
The Airport and Airway Improvement Act of 1982 (49 U.S.C. 47123) states that the Secretary of Transportation shall take affirmative action to ensure that an individual is not excluded because of race, color, national origin, age, sex or creed from participating in an activity carried out with money received under a grant under this subchapter. 49 U.S.C. 47123
Alexandria International Airport, and its employees, airport operators, lessees, tenants, concessionaires, contractors and airlines will not deny public services, employment and program opportunities to any person at Alexandria International Airport due to race, color, national origin, age, sex and creed or be otherwise subjected to discrimination pursuant to the Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Transportation, Part 21 – Title Vi of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
