Airport Operations Agent
The England Economic and Industrial Development District is seeking an Airport Operations Agent to join the Airport Operations Department at Alexandria International Airport (AEX). This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in aviation and airport operations to support the safe, secure, and efficient operation of a commercial service airport.
The Airport Operations Agent serves as an operational representative of the airport and is responsible for conducting airfield inspections, monitoring airport facilities, coordinating with airlines, tenants, contractors, military personnel, government agencies, and emergency responders, and ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and airport regulations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe environment for passengers, employees, tenants, and airport users.
Some of the Duties Include:
- Conduct routine inspections of runways, taxiways, aprons, airport facilities, and other operational areas to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and airport safety standards.
- Monitor airfield conditions, issue and maintain Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs), and coordinate corrective actions for identified deficiencies.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with FAA Part 139 Airport Certification requirements, TSA security regulations, and airport policies and procedures.
- Respond to aircraft incidents, emergencies, wildlife hazards, security events, and other operational situations in accordance with airport emergency plans.
- Coordinate daily operational activities with airlines, tenants, contractors, military personnel, government agencies, and emergency responders.
- Prepare inspection reports, incident reports, and other operational documentation while maintaining accurate records.
- Provide professional assistance to airport users, tenants, and the public.
- Perform various special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Aviation Management, Airport Management, Aviation Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Emergency Management, Transportation Management, or a closely related field; or a High School Diploma/GED with at least two (2) years of aviation-related experience.
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security credentials.
- Ability to successfully complete FAA Part 139 Airport Certification training and other required operational certifications within a specified timeframe after hire.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other business software applications.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs.
- Preferred qualifications include a pilot certificate or flight training, experience with airport operations or airfield inspections, knowledge of FAA Part 139 and TSA regulations, and experience working in a commercial airport, military airfield, airline, or fixed-base operator (FBO) environment.
